DECAF THAT DOESN'T TASTE LIKE DECAF
"Creamy, bold flavor without the acid! I can drink this all day if I choose with no indigestion! No one would guess it's decaf!" – D.G.
Grown in Peru and decaffeinated with the 100% chemical-free Swiss Water Process, our Decaf Peru keeps everything you love about coffee: a smooth, full body, a chocolatey depth and a hint of sweetness. We roast it in small batches to a medium-dark at our family-owned organic roastery in Tampa, where we've been roasting since 2009.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A: With the Swiss Water Process, which uses only pure water, temperature and time to remove 99.9% of the caffeine. No chemicals like methylene chloride or ethyl acetate.
Q: Does it taste like "real" coffee?
A: Yes. It's a smooth medium-dark roast with a chocolatey, creamy body. Our customers say no one can tell it's decaf.
Q: Is it good for sensitive stomachs?
A: It's naturally low acid, and many customers who have trouble with regular coffee tell us they enjoy it with no indigestion. Results may vary.*
Q: How fresh is it?
A: We roast every batch ourselves at our own certified organic roastery in Tampa, Florida, and print the roast date on every bag.
Q: What size is the bag?
A: A full 16 oz (1 lb) of whole bean coffee.

A little about us
Java Planet is a family-owned organic coffee roastery in Tampa, Florida. Jennifer and Mike Simmons started roasting green beans at home, friends and family kept asking for their own bags, and in 2009 we became a certified organic roaster. Seventeen years later, we're still family-owned and still roast every batch ourselves.
Our goal has always been simple: great-tasting coffee that's good for you and good for the planet. Along the way, customers started telling us something we never pitched. Their heartburn or reflux eased up after they switched to Java Planet.* Here's what's behind every bag:
- Low acid: Naturally lower in acid. We roast low and slow, which increases NMP, a compound research links to reduced stomach acid stimulation.*
- Fresh roasted: Small batches, with the roast date printed on every bag.
- Clean: 100% USDA Certified Organic, specialty-grade Arabica, and every crop is third-party lab tested for mold (mycotoxins) and heavy metals, the things organic certification doesn't cover.
We source Smithsonian Bird Friendly® certified coffee whenever we can, and we pay our farmers fairly, directly.

Frequently asked questions
Is your coffee really low acid?
There's no official low-acid certification, so we'll be straight with you: our coffee is naturally lower in acid because of how it's grown and roasted. Clean organic sourcing plus low-and-slow roasting, which increases NMP, a compound shown in research to reduce stomach acid stimulation. (These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.)
Does low-acid coffee taste weak or bland?
Not ours. Low acid comes from how we source and roast, not from watering anything down. Expect smooth, rich, full-bodied coffee that's never bitter.
How fresh is the coffee?
We roast in small batches at our own roastery in Tampa and print the roast date on every bag, so you always know exactly how fresh it is.
What does "third-party lab tested" mean?
USDA Organic covers how coffee is grown, but not mold or heavy metals. Every crop we buy is tested by an independent lab for mold (mycotoxins) and heavy metals.
Is your coffee certified organic?
Yes. All of our coffee is 100% USDA Certified Organic, independently audited from the farm to our roaster.
Is it whole bean or ground?
Our listings here are whole bean, in full 16 oz (1 lb) bags. Need it ground? Send us a message.
How does Subscribe & Save work?
Subscribe to any eligible coffee and save 10%, with fresh coffee delivered on a monthly schedule.
Do you offer wholesale?
Yes. We supply independent coffee shops, restaurants and stores. Send us a message and we'll get you set up.
