A little about us
Hi, I’m Jess, the baker and maker behind CBJ! What began as Cakes by Jess has grown into something much bigger than cakes — a small-batch local bakery built around sourdough, fresh baked goods, and a whole lot of love for really good food.
You’ll find everything from artisan and soft sandwich sourdough to cinnamon rolls, English muffins, seasonal sweets, and Rogelio’s Cheese Crisps — one of those “I’ll just have one” snacks that rarely works out that way. 😉
CBJ is truly small batch. I make our products with care rather than mass producing them, and our selection changes as I create new things, follow the seasons, and listen to what my customers love. You can find us each week at local farmers markets in The Woodlands/Conroe area.

Is everything made from scratch?
Yes! CBJ is a small-batch bakery, and our baked goods are made with care using thoughtfully selected ingredients. Nothing about what we do is mass produced.
Is all of your bread sourdough?
Sourdough is at the heart of CBJ! We offer artisan sourdough, soft sandwich sourdough and a rotating selection of other baked goods that are not sourdough.
What are Rogelio’s Cheese Crisps?
One of our customer favorites! They’re crispy, cheesy sourdough crackers made in small batches using our sourdough starter, Rogelio. Warning: stopping at one is difficult. 😉
Do you have the same products every week?
Not always—and that’s part of the fun! Our core favorites are available regularly, but sweets, breads and seasonal items can change from week to week.

Absolutely! Preordering is the best way to make sure your favorites don’t sell out before you get to the market.

How should I store my sourdough bread?
For short-term enjoyment, keep it well wrapped at room temperature. For longer storage, slice it and freeze it—you can pull out exactly what you need and toast or warm it as you go.
Who are Rogelio and Nora?
They’re our sourdough starters! Rogelio is behind our artisan sourdough and famous cheese crisps, while Nora is the starter behind our soft sandwich sourdough. Yes, we name our starters around here. 😂
